ADDITIONAL 2BILLION NAIRA: Umo Eno made a bold statement on Gratuities compassionately

ADDITIONAL 2BILLION NAIRA: Pst. Umo Eno made a bold statement on Gratuities compassionately.

“Compassion is the wish to see others free from suffering.” Dalai Lama

When we were campaigning to have my Principal Pst. Umo Bassey Eno as the next Governor of Akwa Ibom State, I remember putting up different titles for some of my articles in the hit of the campaigns, one of which was “PST. UMO ENO: A MAN OF COMPASSION”.

Today, I am not disappointed one bid for campaigning rigorously at my small end to see that my Principal, His Excellency Pst. Umo Bassey Eno emerges victoriously at the polls on March 18, 2023, as Pst. Umo Eno the Governor of Akwa Ibom State is doing everything possible to put smiles on the faces of the people. Most especially the retired Primary School Teachers whose cry for non payment of their gratuities had reached the mountain top over the years.

I am vindicated indeed. During the electioneering campaign, most of the people I spoke with to garner support for my preferred candidate His Excellency Pst. Umo Eno told me face to face that I should save my strength as they would neither support nor vote for him simply because he won’t think of paying their outstanding gratuities should he becomes the Governor, pointing accusing fingers at the immediate past Governor Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel for showcasing his Puppet that will definitely took after him.

I remembered my Principal His Excellency Pst. Umo Bassey Eno, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State debunking such claims, stating that he is not coming into governance to do anyone’s bidding. He repeatedly mentioned that he will be the Governor for all Akwa Ibomites, stating that he is blessed with the ministry of reconciliation.

Recalled that during the peaceful protest by the organized labour in the State on 2nd August, 2023, the State Governor Pst. Umo Eno in an attempt to doused the tension of Civil Servants in the State had approved an immediate release of 1Billion Naira for the payment of gratuities to the Retired Primary School Teachers in Akwa Ibom State. The sum of Eight Hundred Million Naira was also approved by the Governor for payment of Leave Grants for other categories of Civil Servants in the State, while subsequent Leave Grants payment was to be incorporated into monthly salaries of the deserving Civil Servants. Prior to that, the sum of Six Hundred million Naira was earlier released for the payment of gratuities in the very first trench upon his assumption of office out of the overwhelming compassion of the Governor Pst. Umo Bassey Eno, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State.

It was Karen Armstrong that quipped “In compassion, when we feel with the other, we dethrone ourselves from the center of our world and we put another person there”.

Before this time, the Governor stated that there would hardly be any two months that he will not look into the payment of the back log of gratuities in the State, just so he can reduce the burden and sufferings of the intended beneficiaries who had served the State meritoriously with everything in them in various Ministries and Parastatals.

I agree with Yasmin Mogaged when he said that “Compassion is to look beyond your own pain, to see the pain of others”. This is exactly what my Principal His Excellency, Pst. Umo Bassey Eno, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State represents.

True to his guiding statement on prompt payment of gratuities, on Wednesday 30th August, 2023, the State Governor Pst. Umo Bassey Eno approved an immediate release of additional 2Billion Naira for the payment of gratuities to the Retired Primary School Teachers and Retired Local Government staff in the State. The Governor is a man of his words. In other words, you can take his words to any bank in the world and be credited immediately. In less than no time, non payment of Gratuities will become a thing of the past in Akwa Ibom State. We are in our golden era indeed.

Ask me of a man with great compassion and I will quickly point at His Excellency Pst. Umo Bassey Eno, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State without blinking my eye. In a very little while, everyone will feel the impact of this golden era administration. Arise Agenda is for everyone. At your very own corner, support the Governor to succeed in his determination to move Akwa Ibom State forward.
